New manager appointed for energy trust

THE Eastern Bay Energy Trust has a new manager – Ohope businesswoman Rawinia Kamau.

Ms Kamau takes over from Kaye Jamieson, who has retired after 11 years managing the trust.

Trust chairman Don Lewell said Ms Kamau had a strong economic and community development background and had built extensive relationships during her work with various organisations across the Bay.

“This will be of enormous benefit to the trust, as the manager works closely with the local and regional authorities, government agencies, training providers, business organisations, iwi and a multitude of community organisations.”

Ms Kamau is the owner and director of Whakatane business KamTech and Associates, specialising in business development and executive coaching.

She has bachelor degrees in social science and computer science and a masters degree in social science.

She is completing a phd in economics at the University of Auckland.

Ms Kamau said she was excited about the new challenge

“After spending most of the last decade working regionally and nationally, the role is a perfect opportunity for me to use my skills and experience at a local level,” she said.

“The organisation has great foundations and I am looking forward to working with the trustees to continue to build on this for the benefit of our community.”

Ms Jamieson said she would leave the trust on December 18 with “mixed emotions”.

“While I will miss the challenge, I am looking forward to the next stage of my life, seeing more of New Zealand with my partner in our motorhome, and spending more time with our grandchildren.”
